But which ideas are really innovative? Which can be executed, and by whom? And does “you can” mean “you should”?

These three questions are at the heart of the innovation process: Uncovering new opportunities driven by genuine insight into market need,  understanding whether a large firm’s skill base is an asset or a hindrance relative to the more entrepreneurial start-up path to executing on the idea, and finding ways to experiment and validate the ideas potential as an innovation.  The third question –”should you” — also is increasingly being cast as a test of corporate social responsibility and responsible business.

I have been investigating, writing, teaching, and helping firms execute in these areas of innovation work for over a decade, as well as applying them on my own to social change (and specifically creating greater urgency and more immediate action on GHG emissions and climate change.)
